Yesterday we went to New York City! After a stroll through Central Park we went inside the American Museum of Natural History. We had a guided tour for part of the day and then we went into the new Pterosaur Exhibit. The exhibit was very hands on and had all of our students participating in some sort of activity or research. I have scheduled our first trip this summer! As promised, NYC was first on the agenda. We will start the day in the Bronx with a tour of Yankees Stadium and its museum. The curator of the museum is Brian Richards. His uncle is our tour guide of Gettysburg each year in fifth grade and suggested we add this to our NYC tour! After that we will take a short trip to Central Park for lunch. From there we will head down to The High Line. This will be our third stop on The High Line for B.E.E.S. I found out about this great destination in our "Time for Kids" magazine. Each year they have added on to the trail. We can't see how far they have come since our last visit in 2011! We will end the day with a stop at the Ground Zero Memorial. The students and staff were very moved by our visit there two years ago. This is now one of the biggest moments of American history and something that occurred before most of our students were even born. Click on all the links to learn more!
